あまあし【雨脚】

〔筋のように見える雨〕 the intensity of the rain; 〔雨が通りすぎていくさま･その速さ〕 (the speed of) a passing shower.

●激しい雨脚 heavy [driving] rain.

●雨脚が速い. The rain is passing rapidly.

・雨脚が白く見える. The rain is so heavy that it looks like white sheets streaming down.

・雨脚が強まった. The rain grew heavier. | The rain began to fall more heavily. | 《文》 The rain grew in intensity.

・雨脚が衰えた. The rain eased (off). | The rain began to fall less heavily. | 《文》 The rain eased in intensity.
